Design Studio Beta
Taken at the start of my second year at university, this subject provided the first opportunity to look at designing a fully fledged building complex, a community centre based in a suburban context. However, a mere three weeks into the subject, university moved to an online setting and things changed. No longer were there physical models, in person studios etc., but instead zoom calls and countless hours spent at home behind a computer screen. Nevertheless, the project pushed on. Based on a series of circular geometries developed in the first few weeks, I created this two-storey complex for the enjoyment of a suburban community. It features rentable studio spaces, function space, a community living room and a substantial garden space for public use. I applied the techniques of real time rendering learnt in Digital Design (a subject taken alongside Beta) to create some final renders, which help to visualise the soft, natural look and feel of the development.
